Homecoming win for GG football

The Charger’s hosted Win-E-Mac last Friday night on the field in Goodridge where the 28-22 final score of that game gave the Chargers a nice win!

Coach’s Comments: “Goodridge-Grygla met the state-ranked Win-E-Mac Patriots Friday night in the Goodridge 2021 Homecoming game. What an entertaining game the fans witnessed with the Chargers holding off the Patriots to get the hard fought victory.  

Reece Sundberg, Andrew Loken and Nolan Anderson played stealth defense on the line of scrimmage. Lewis Jones had a huge interception in the 4th quarter to stymy the Patriot’s drive.

Offensively, Andrew Loken had a banner game racking up 172 yards, rushing on 6 carries & scoring 3 touchdowns. This was attributed to the great blocking of his lead blockers & offensive line. 

The Chargers could have put the Patriots away early on in the second half. But three consecutive drives were stopped to costly penalties. As well as costly assignment break downs in all three phases of the game. That gave the Patriots life with 3 minutes in the game.

If the Chargers are going to reach their goal of winning the section and earning a trip to the state tournament, we are going to have to get through these growing pains and learn from our mistakes or we will come up short in the 2021 playoff run. On the positive side, it was a very sweet Homecoming win for Charger boys who have been playing some real physical football with great effort as of late.

The Chargers will now be traveling over to Warren this Friday, September 24th, at 7pmto challenge the undefeated WAO Ponies.
