Here, There, In Between Grygla Fall Fest 2018

Well, there you have it! The logo for this year’s Grygla Fall Festival! Watch for the official weekend poster to run in an upcoming issue of the Eagle, but for now, let’s give you a little run down of the weekend.

As always, Fall Fest is taking place on the third weekend in August, which makes this year’s dates August 24-26. The committee has been meeting regularly to finalize the weekend festivities, which include all the regular favorites.

Friday’s highlights include the Grygla High School Student Council Fun Run, the Bean Bag Toss Tournament, a Talent/Variety Show (contact Jodi Schulz at 689-1454 if interested in performing) and the street dance featuring Shell Shock, who also performs their classic rock ‘n’ roll on Saturday night, too.

Saturday’s events include a mixed softball tournament, kiddie games, farmer’s market, craft/bake sale, tractor pull, horseshoe tournament, car/tractor show, parade, musical entertainment by The Jensen Sisters, demolition derby, old time dance and another street dance from 8:30-12:30!

Buttons are $12 at the gate or $8 in advance; they’ll be available this week at local businesses and will continue to be purchased until 5pm on Friday, August 24th.

This year’s logo was designed by Kari Sundberg (i.e. ME), who was awarded $50 by the Grygla Jaycee’s Club. The last few years, entries to design the logo have sure dwindled, or should we say, STOPPED COMPLETELY. Years ago, so many entries were received and it was so fun to vote on them! Maybe more people will consider designing a fun button logo next year? (Hint, hint…the committee would love your participation, plus there’s cash involved!)

Anyway, Sunday’s events include the fly-in breakfast, a joint community worship under the tent, a men’s softball tournament, sand volleyball tournament and lots of food vendors still available.

Food vendors this year include stands by Groovy Grub, Jaycee’s, Spud Wagon, Grain Bin Café, Mini Doughnuts, Top Hawg (those pork loin sandwiches, right?), The Kart, Mimi’s Asian Cuisine, Mike Hruby and Wallace’s Kettle Corn, which sells the best sweet and salty mix EVER that’s made up of cheese, regular and caramel kettle corn.

So, that’s just a sneak peek at the upcoming Grygla Fall Festival. Posters and buttons will be all around town this week! Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to go spend that $50.
