Haack moves on to the Regional Spelling Bee

The Grygla School held a spelling bee last week on Wednesday, January 27th, at 1:30pm. Participants were students in grades 5-8. The winner was 7th grader, Jared Haack, son of Jeremy and Tonia Haack. The alternate winner was Jamie Dougherty.
Jared will move on to the Regional Spelling Bee, which is set for February 10th at 9:30am at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, where the winners from 22 schools will compete. The top four from the region will advance to the Multi-Regional State Spelling Bee on February 22nd in Fergus Falls.
Contestants in the Grygla School Spelling Bee were: 5th grade – Dane Arveson, Devon Dickson, Kia Klein. 6th grade – Zoey Fish, Nolan Anderson, Clayton Suchoski. 7th grade – Gracie Lunsetter, Jared Hack, Jamie Dougherty. 8th grade – Evan Fish, Bailey Watne, Maci Bakken.
Cash prizes were awarded for each grade. 1st place: $10, 2nd place: $7, 3rd place: $5. The overall winner was also awarded $20 with the alternate given $15.
The winner of the Goodridge Spelling Bee was Trinity Walseth. She will also be moving on to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee at NCTC.
