Gully Women are Strong Women!

The women of Gully are so strong they once pulled a rope in two leaving two piles of women with ropes in their hands. Fortunately no one was hurt. The rope had been borrowed from the Gully Tri-Coop Fertilizer Division. Manager Lloyd Godtland stated  "I used that rope to lift large industrial equipment high up into the fertilizer tower using a crane."  Godtland went on to say "I guess I under estimated the strength of Gully women. I should have known better since my wife is from north of Gully and she's very strong!" Many Gully women would represent a lot of power. The Gully 100 Committee now rents a professional rope for the competition.

Gully Day 2017 will mark the third time since 2010 that feats of strength will happen in Gully. Both men's teams and women's teams from north and south of Gully will again square off against each other. 

The north men's team has been dominate over the south. The opposite is true for the women, with south women being dominant.

In recent years people in the Gully area have had fun with the north/ south rivalry. Years ago it wasn't always friendly. The  hills of Gully separated  the "flatlanders (or swampers) from the hill folks" and  bar fighting often erupted. To carry on the tradition, the Tug  of War 2017, will take place approximately 4:30 on July 22nd during Gully Day.
