Minnesota music was presented by show participants and members of the Gully Parish Confirmation class. Conducting the group was Doug Robbins who spent several hours writing the script and getting people to take part in the program "A Gully Home Companion." Talents of Minnesota people who were highlighted included: Bob Dylan, John Denver, Andrews Sisters, Florian Chmielewski, Tiny Tim and Judy Garland.
Leah Carlson was the host for the event.
Steve Hanson sang a song that he wrote about Gully. He was accompanied by Chuck Mccalip.
Les Torgerson provided music by Florian Chmielewski.Leah Carlson was the vocalist.
Brian Graftaas and his daughter Catherine performed a John Denver song with words about Gully.
The Andrews Sisters' harmonies and songs are still influential today, and have been covered by entertainers such as Bette Midler, Christina Aguilera, and last weekend by Trudee Torgerson, Terri Godtland and Leah Carlson when they sang "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" .
Surgery couldn't keep Cory Carlson from playing a couple of Bob Dylan songs at the Gully Home Companion show. Bob Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman in St. Mary's Hospital on May 24, 1941, in Duluth and raised in Hibbing.
Pat Arlaud performed a Tiny Tim single ''Tiptoe Through the Tulips,' with his ukulele. Tiny Tim is buried in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. Jim Rud is enjoying the performance in the background.
These two ladies Patti Thorssen at the keyboard and Donna Marshall provided music and sound effects at the Gully Home Companion show. Lots of people helped to make it a success including: Nancy Schmit, Doreen Brovold, Carol Torgerson, Dennis Erickson, Leon Peterson, Cindy Kolling, Doug Robbins and those who took part in the program.
Les Torgerson did a tribute to Garrison Keillor. His Gully story was about a 1937 Chevy used as a septic tank on a trailer going through Fosston just as the Homecoming parade was making its way down the street. It was hilarious.
Diane Huseth Godtland wrote a poem about Gully.
Marceen Hammer sang a Judy Garland song, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Act 2 of "A Gully Home Companion" had bad joke time. Rick Bjerklie, Sarah Bjerklie and Shirley Graftaas had several that the audience enjoyed.
Jim Rud, who used to play in a band had a tribute to Gary Erickson. He sang "Desperado" and an Elvis Presley song at the show at the Gully Community Center.
