Grygla youth keep busy over the summer

The youth of Grygla are very active when it comes to being employed and having jobs to keep themselves busy. Most of the youth are out and about working for the summer. Jobs range from raking leaves for their neighbors, to assembling parts at Machinewell! Let’s take a look at a handful of kids who have been busy with their summer employment.

Kelly Dougherty, a Grygla senior this upcoming year, is currently employed at Machinewell, Inc. She works part time at the company and keeps busy assembling parts and doing menial tasks. Her favorite part of the job is being able to do something different every day and not have to constantly be told what to do. With the money Kelly makes this summer she plans to save for future uses like college or just leisurely spending. One of her favorite past times is just relaxing at home. 

Logan Tinnes, a junior this coming school year, can be seen working at the Grygla Coop. There, he is a cashier and also stocks shelves when needed. Logan is a part time worker who, like most people, likes to get his paycheck at the end of the week! He just bought a jetski with the money he has made working at the grocery store and plans on hours of fun at the lake with it! In his time off, he likes to rest from all the hard work he does at the Coop.

Alaina Monson, who will be a sophomore in high school this year, likes to spend her summer babysitting. She will babysit almost any kids if you ask her or her sister Elise, who also helps her babysit. Her favorite part of a babysitting job is being able to play with the kids; she says board games or a trip to the park are her favorite! Alaina babysits whenever she gets the chance so she can earn some extra cash for shopping and buying clothes! She enjoys playing volleyball and hanging out around town with her friends.

Ty Jelle, a soon to be Grygla senior, works as a farm hand at Anderson Farms (Dale R.). He is a part time worker that helps on the farm in any way that he can. His duties range from washing tractors to spraying the fields. His favorite part about working on the farm is harvest time; he loves to combine! When he isn’t at work, Ty enjoys hanging out with his friends and four wheeling. He just bought a pickup truck so he is working on paying for that, while paying for gas!

Carlye Kiesow will be a sophomore this year at the Grygla School and is working on the Kiesow family farm this summer. She is putting in full-time hours and is always ready to go whenever her dad calls for her to go work in the fields or transport someone to where they need to go. So far this year, Carlye has helped with the cows, field work, and has moved people from field to field. What she enjoys most about the job is listening to music in the tractor. She is always saving her money to buy new clothes or any fashion accessory. In her spare time, she likes to knit, crochet and read books. 

Tanner Anderson will be a junior this fall and he is also employed at Machinewell, Inc. He is a part time employee and he assembles parts, cleans the mills and does all the small stuff at the research and development building. His favorite part about the job is the people he works with and that it keeps him pretty busy, plus the pay is good, he added! He isn’t saving up for anything in particular and is just working to work and stay busy. When he isn’t at Machinewell, Tanner is normally hanging out with his friends or driving four wheeler. 

These are just a few of our local kids who are staying busy with employment this summer. When you run into one of them, or any other younger member of the community, don’t be shy; ask these kids where they are working and how they are liking their summer jobs!
