Grygla kids walked and biked to school SAFELY

Grygla School joined schools from around the country and held a ‘Walk and Bike to School’ day last week to promote the new sidewalks that were installed this summer with a Safe Routes to School grant. It’s now easier for kids to walk and bike to school safely in Grygla.
School administration had been working with Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) staff to plan the event. SHIP is a grant funded by the Minnesota Department of Health focused on health prevention efforts such as healthy eating and active living. SHIP has been supporting the Safe Routes to School efforts in Grygla throughout the process and hopes it will help more kids feel safe to walk and bike to school and keep them active.
Students were encouraged to walk or bike to school last Thursday, September 15th. Out of town buses dropped students off in the Yo-Hawn’s parking lot where they were met by volunteers and members of the Grygla School Patrol, who walked them to school that morning.
