Greenbush Race Park results

A warm and humid August evening greeted racers and fans alike for a great night of action at the Greenbush Race Park. 

The class to hit the track first was the Agassiz Insurance WISSOTA Pure Stocks.  Hunter Wescott and Mason Smith led the field to the green flag.  Mason Smith would snag the lead early on and pull away.  A couple of restarts wouldn’t slow Smith down as he was the class of the field for most of the feature race.  Behind him a few good battles between Wescott, Austin Calson, and Jake Smith would ensue.  Smith and Carlson showed speed at times, but the slick parts of the track proved to be a challenge for both.  When the checkered flags were waving, it was Smith with the win, Jake Smith second, Carlson third, and Wescott in fourth.

The T&B auto 4-cylinders were led by Gabreil Espe on the pole and Jayme Gordon starting second. At the drop of the green it was Nick McCann, who started in the second row, with a great start and had the lead out of turn two.  Once clear of traffic he would once again cruise home to a win with a half-lap lead over second place.   Behind him the battle for second place looked to be Brook McCann’s until a motor issue ended her evening.   At the finish it was McCann with the win, followed by Gabriel Espe, Jonah Espe, and Gordon, and Llayson Ottessen in fifth.

The Tamarack Landscaping WISSOTA Street Stock feature was turned loose with Jerome Berger and Jon Halvorson sharing the front row.  Berger would lead and make a mistake in turns one and two that cost him the lead.  Halvorson seized the opportunity and led for a while.  Shortly thereafter, a couple of incidents would end some racers’ chances of winning the race. Jeremy Gust seized the opportunity and drove his car to the lead. Once he was in the lead, he was able to pull away and take home the win.  He was followed to the finish line by Doug VanMill, Deryk Weleski, Charlie Pardis, and Alaina Chaplin in fifth.

The Farmers Co-op Ag Services Midwest Mods turned the field to the start with Connor Drewry and Carter Mathews on the front row.  Those two cars would stay within two car lengths of each other throughout the duration of the race.  Drewry would claim the lead early and found his line.  Mathews tried every line he could to get around the leader but was unable to make a pass.  Behind the lead duo, there was close and aggressive racing taking place.  Aaron Blacklance and Justin Olson traded positions a few times along with Shane Wahl.  When the race was over it was Drewry with an error free drive taking home the win.  Mathews was a very close second.  Behind them it was Blackance, Olson, and Wahl rounding out the top five cars.

The final cars on the track were the RCCA Modified division.  Ryan Johson held the pole position and Brody Strachan started second.  At the drop of the green it was Strachan taking the lead.  Soon thereafter, Joesph Thomas was able to get around Johnson and challenge Strachan for the lead.  Once he was able to get by, Thamas was able to build a comfortable advantage over the second-place car.  Behind them a good battle was ensuing between Johson, Connor Graff, and Patrick Sobolik.  Those cars would change lines and positions a few times before the laps remaining went to zero.   When the race was over, it was Thomas with the win, followed by Strachan, Graff, Sobolik, and Johnson in fifth.
