Goodridge students acknowledge Arbor Month

The Goodridge 6th and 12th grade classes came out to the Goodridge School Forest on May 8th to plant trees in celebration of Arbor Month. About 25 students planted close to 300 trees with help from Minnesota DNR Forestry, Beltrami County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Species of trees planted included choke cherry, white pine, red pine, Norway spruce, and black spruce. Along with planting, the students placed tree tubes and bud caps on the trees to protect them from wildlife damage. The school forest is located on the south end of Beltrami Island State Forest about 4 miles north of Fourtown.
