The Gonvick City Council met in regular session on Thursday, June 11. The month meeting minutes from May 7 were approved.
Ole Engebreston and Lucie Thompson brought to the council a natural gas consideration for city residents. Lucie is the Clearbrook City Clerk and Ole is on the council. They had a proposed map of the lines for natural gas that they were wondering if people in Gonvick would be interested. 80% of the residents of Clearbrook are connected. Stacie, the Gonvick City Clerk will be putting a notice in the monthly water and sewer bills to see if there is any interest in having further meetings on the subject. An area map is included on the proposed lines.
Police department report from Ryan Solee. There were 14 records that included Animal Related 2; Assault 1; Crimes Against Family 2; Fire 1; Information Only 2; Medical 1; Medical Death 1; Suspicious Activity 1; Traffic Stop 2 and Welfare Check.
The City of Gonvick, received the bid: Lots 8–12, Block 7, Original Townsite of the City of Gonvick, Clearwater County, Minnesota, the old Vandy’s Grocery Market lot. Reegan Hetland submitted a bid of $5,100 which was assessed value of the property. He will be expanding his Plumbing and Heating supplies that he does not have room for in Gully. He plans to get the building process going in the next 3 to 4 years.
No more information has been received on what must be done at the old City Hall.
Cody Rude, Gonvick Fire Chief gave his report. They had one fireman resign after Nick Erickson has had 10 years on the department. They added one new probationary fireman to the department with Tanner Pletschett. Four firemen responded to the Flanders fire at Cross Lake with Tender 3. The crew worked two twelve-hour shifts. The department is in line to receive another pickup from Enbridge North Dakota. They also attended the scholarship banquet at the Clearbrook-Gonvick School. They presented Aston Aust with the Justin Erickson Memorial Scholarship. They had 4 medicals, 1 structure fire with mutual aid, 1 worknight, 1 meeting, 3 - six hours of training, 1 accident and 1 grass fire.
New flag poles and hardware were ordered for the new 250th year celebration flags that will be put up before July 4th.
The council accepted the 70 % rural district levy for those living on the hill above the Gonvick Fire Hall.
The resolution 26-04 for the approval of donations was accepted. They included $4,000 from the Gonvick Diamond Jubilee for the All-School Reunion band at Rodeo Days and $1000 from the DAF Giving 360 for fire equipment from Bill Johnson.
Journal entries and expenditures were approved. General for $21,318.71, Water and Sewer $4,938.05, Fire $16,412.64 for a total of $44,669.41.
