The Gonvick City council met in regular session on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Minutes from the November 13 meeting were approved.
No visitors.
Ryan Solee gave his Clearbrook-Gonvick Police report. There were 10 records including Juvenile Misc. 1; Medical 4; Parking Complaint 1; Suspicious Activity 1; Traffic Stop 2; Welfare Check; Suicide Related 1.
He informed the board that they had wrapped up the budget for the year and they are coming in under. The money saved could be used for next year.
The Clearbrook-Gonvick police delivered 75 meals for Thanksgiving dinner. The Clearbrook Community Club donated $1000 to the Clearbrook-Leonard Senior Center to help with the cost of the meal.
Gonvick Fire Department Chief Cody Rude gave his report for the month. They had four medical calls, one false alarm, two work nights and one meeting. Michael Carroll will be the Assistant Chief, Dan Johnson the Treasurer with Cody the Chief. They added Equipment Manager position and that will be Branden Oien.
No maintenance issues except the snow plowing being done
The council passed the 2026 Budget Levy Resolution at 3%.
A letter had been sent from Miller McDonald Certified Accounts in Bemidji that they were no longer going to do the city audit. They are realigning their firm’s focus on reducing the number of government audits they perform.
A letter has been received from Carlson CPSs and Advisors with a new quote for the next audit. Dean A Birkeland is the CPA Principal that sent the letter with the quote for the next year. Dean is a Gonvick High school graduate and has been with the firm since June of 1988. The council accepted the bid of $16,000 for the audit to be done.
Bills were paid for Water and Sewer $2,938.39; Genral $36,420.31, Fire $98,544.65 for a total of $137,9903.35.
