“Trees make the prairie more livable, and we shouldn’t mess around with varieties which don’t work here,” he added. “We have plenty of great tree varieties to fill our needs.”

“Most of our nation’s population lives where there is acid soil,” he says. “Our alkaline soils need exactly the opposite treatment of what is suggested on many national shows.”

“With the proper soil amendments and good watering habits, anybody can have a green thumb,” Bergeson adds.
