D & R Grocery 30th Anniversary

D & R Grocery had their beginnings in the Bergeron Grocery building on Main Street, now known as Oklee Quilting Supply, Inc. Rick and Debbie Sherman purchased the store from Dale and Elmer Kolseth in 1986 and renamed the store to D & R Grocery.
In 1997 Errol and Gerri Rustan sold Rustan’s Grocery, former building of Melby Bros. to Rick and Deb. They repaired the roof, updated air conditioning, refurbished produce coolers, compressors and new video. After thirty days of remodeling, they were ready to open at their new location.
Their first two part time workers at D & R Grocery were Lorraine Cote and Clara Radniecki.
Others that have helped them out were Rosemary Sather, Gerald and Dale Cote, Tracy Finseth, Pam Johnson, Cindy Kvasager, Cindy Muggli, Donna Fossum, Carolyn Rystad, Cindy and Doug Schnittgen, Amy Paquin, Norm Coulombe and more. Their children Conway and Kim, Nicosia and Andy, Ryan and Andi, Jesse and Amy have been a huge help to them as well.
A full generation has passed and we now often see their grandchildren at the store. With their grandchildren popping in and out of the store, they have become an “old fashioned” mom and pop store. Their grandchildren are Sidney, Paige, Jack, Nate, Bentley, Amari, Bailey, Shelby, Ryleigh and Stella.
Debbie and Rick Sherman have been owners of D & R Grocery since 1986 and will be celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
D & R Grocery will be having cake and coffee for the public in the afternoon. Their adult drawings include a Weber grill with charcoal and utencils and a cooler with a 12 pack of pop. The kids drawing is a volleyball set.
