Bears win first game of the season
     The Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears hosted the Red Lake Warriors in basketball action on Tuesday, December 2. It was a wild first game for both teams with large runs to none at all. The Bears had a 14 -0 run and the Warriors had a 15- 0 run. The lead went back and forth. With two minutes left the game was tied. There had been four lead changes and four ties. The Bears had the final shot. Grant Engen who was the high scorer for the Bears went in for a layup with three seconds left on the clock. The score was  88-86. The Warriors did not have any more timeouts left as they got the ball up the floor and sent a throw from center court but it fell short. That would have given them the 1-point victory, 89-88.

   Scoring for the Bears were Grant Engen 30; Trey Goudge 16; Avery Ostenaa 13, Ryan Gelofs, 11, Carver Kroulik 8, Drayden Cobenais-Neadeau 5, Gavin Solberg 3 and Wyatt Westrum 2.

   Scoring for Red Lake Warriors were Austin Perkins 21, Dimitrius Harris 14, Arius Curry 14, John Henry Barrett 10, Isiah Oakgrove 9, Isaac Jourdain 4 and Zander Papageorgiou 3.

   The Bears will be in the Fosston Holiday Tournament on Thursday and Friday.
