9th graders race CO2 cars

In January the ninth grade physical science class at Red Lake County Central High School designed and raced CO2 cars. They cut a triangular chunk of wood into tapered car shape, then drilled holes for the wheels and painted the cars. A track was set up including a starter box and fishing line connected to the box to race the cars on. At the end of the track there was a foam barrier to stop the cars when they got to the end.
The students partnered up and raced against their classmates. There were 30 rounds of competition. Each team’s car was raced and teams had to lose twice in order to be eliminated. The car made by Garrett Qualley and Natalia Snegireff came in first place. In second place was Jayden Iverson.
