4-H Scholarship Winners

The Red Lake County 4-H Leader’s Council presented $100 scholarship to three members.  They are Akayla Rondorf, Tanner Solie, and Matt Weiss.  This scholarship program is open to graduating Red Lake County High School Seniors who have been active 4-H Members for at least three years. The scholarship application selection is based on the 4-H Members involvement in both the 4-H Youth Development Program and their community service. The 2016 4-H Scholarship Award Recipient, Matthew Weiss, son of Ron and Sharon Weiss of Red Lake Falls, Mn.  Matt is a member of the Huot Hustlers 4-H Club.  He has been active in the 4-H Youth Development Program for 11 years.  Some of his activities and participation in 4-H include:  4-H County Ambassador Program, 4-H Share the Fun Program, CWF (Citizenship Washington Focus Trip), Ditch Cleaning, 4-H Make It and Take It Project Night, 4-H Get Green Night, County and State Fair, Unity Bank North Customer Appreciation, Vice President of the Huot Hustlers 4-H Club and 4-H Leader’s Council.
Matt says, “4-H has helped me with my leadership, public speaking, life skills, and working with people.
The 2016 4-H Scholarship Award recipient Akayla Rondorf, daughter of Lee and Jacklyn Rondorf of Red Lake Falls, Mn.  Akayla is a member of the Huot Hustlers 4-H Club.  She has been active in the 4-H Youth Development Program for five years.  Some of her activities and participation in 4-H include: 4-H Share the Fun, 4-H Make It and Take It Night, County and State Fair, 4-H Get Green Night, Unity Bank North Customer Appreciation, and ditch cleaning. 
Akayla says, “Being a 4-H Member has affected my life positively.  I met new people.  I have learned many things like leadership and how to make different foods/snacks.”
The 2016 4-H Scholarship Award recipient, Tanner Solie, son of Kory and Betty Solie of Fertile, Mn.  Tanner is a member of the Huot Hustlers 4-H Club.  He has been active in the 4-H Youth Development Program for seven years.  Some of his activities and participation in 4-H include: 4-H County Ambassador Program, 4-H Share the Fun Program, Ditch Cleaning, CWF (Citizenship Washington Focus Trip), 4-H Make It and Take It Project Night, 4-H Get Green Night, County and State Fair, Unity Bank North Customer Appreciation, President of the Huot Hustlers 4-H Club, and Treasurer for the 4-H Leader’s Council for two years.
Tanner says, “4-H has helped me in so many ways.  A couple ways were teaching me to be a better leader and lead club members, talk in front of many people and help in state presence!  It taught me how to give back to the community and being grateful for everything they do.”
