2nd Annual Bryan Stordahl Memorial Golf Event a success

The 2nd Annual Bryan Stordahl Memorial Golf even took place on Saturday, August 1st. The weather was perfect for a great day of golfing, for a good cause. The event took place at Oak Lake Golf Course in Erskine and there was a huge turnout of golfers from all around the area.
The teams played 18 holes, with the first teams teeing off around 9:00 am and then all the teams stopped for lunch after the first 9 holes.
The winning team was Adam Bergman’s team, 2nd place went to Scott Sandberg’s team and the third place spot was filled by Clyde Kringlen’s team. There were prizes given out for Closest second shot: Jeff Haaven; Longest drive: Dave Kiecker; Longest Putt: Josh Brouse; and Closest to pin: Nick Johnson.
After a day of golf, the golfers and friends and family gathered at The Club Bar & Grill for a night of fun with a Silent Auction, raffle prizes for the golfers. Grand Prize in the raffle was a golf bag which was won by Dave Kiecker.
The Kelly Austin Band performed into the evening.
Over $8,500 was raised to donate to cancer research and the donations will be made in honor of Bryan. A special donation of $250 in a gift card was made by Thrivant Financial to help with expenses for the event.
Proceeds for the event were donated to the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The V Foundation was formed in 1993 by Jim Valvano and ESPN. Like Bryan, Jim lost his battle to cancer, and also like Bryan his family and friends continue to carry on his legacy to find cures for cancer through research grants and scholarships. You can still make a donation to the cause and in memory of Bryan. Any checks made out to the V Foundation and dropped at Stordahl Tax in McIntosh will be donated in honor of Bryan Stordahl.
