250th celebration in Gully and Trail

Gully and Trail are planning a joint Fourth of July weekend to celebrate our country’s 250th year of Independence (Semi-quincentennial). We invite our neighbors to join in the fun! The celebration will start in Gully with activities for kids on July 3. Events will include a scavenger hunt, chalk art, races, and a bouncy house. Late afternoon a free community picnic is planned concurrently with music provided by local musicians. Following the picnic Ann Marie Newman will host story telling. On July 3 the evening culminates with a street dance with the Donny Dahl Band from the Fargo area. They play pop, rock and country. On Saturday, July 4 there is a big parade down Main Street in Gully. We encourage area folks to start planning to bring their vintage cars, tractors, floats or other creative entrants.

Following the parade, the celebration moves to Trail. Trail has a long tradition of celebrating the Fourth of July. The event especially caters to children, including a kiddie parade, street games and a ping pong drop. A special feature on July 4 afternoon is homemade pie in the pavilion. Later in the day Julie Lee and the White Rose Band will play in the pavilion and there will also be music in the bar. The weekend’s grand finale is fireworks at dusk near the old school in Trail!
