$22 Million in Federal Funding for Minnesota Rail Infrastructure
Rep. Fischbach Helps Secure $22 Million in Federal Funding for Minnesota Rail Infrastructure
Washington, DC - Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach (MN-07) announced that Twin Cities & Western Railroad Company has been awarded $22,000,000 in federal funding through the Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program for a major rail infrastructure and grain transportation project. Rep. Fischbach submitted a letter of support, advocating for the investment to strengthen Minnesota’s transportation network and help farmers move their products.
The CRISI grant will fund 200 new rail grain cars and rail infrastructure improvements. These upgrades will improve reliability, reduce delays, and increase railcar capacity.
“Reliable rail infrastructure is essential to keeping Minnesota agriculture competitive,” said Rep. Fischbach. “I advocated for this funding because our farmers need dependable transportation to get their products to market. This $22 million federal investment will support the rural communities and businesses that drive our economy.”
"The Twin Cities & Western is proud to partner with our Minnesota grain customers, the Federal Railroad Administration, and our champions in Congress,” said Twin Cities & Western Railroad President Vic Meyers. “This project will ensure Minnesota farmers remain connected to grain markets with safe, efficient, and reliable rail service.”
“The Greenbrier Companies is very excited to work with our partners at TCWR and the FRA, to build a modern, Made in America grain car fleet in our Paragould, Arkansas facility,” said Greenbrier Companies President for The Americas, Brian Comstock. “These American grain cars will create benefits for Minnesota agriculture for the next 50 years.”
