2020 Win-E-Mac One Act Play "Sending Down the Sparrows"
The 2020 Win-E-Mac One Act Play is the first with Andrew Hanson as the lead director. For his first one act, he chose a script called "Sending Down the Sparrows". This particular drama is set during the Holocaust and it features a reluctant member of the Hitler Youth named Viktor (played by Zach Simonson, this production's only senior). Viktor is surrounded by Nazi ideology, from the math problems he's given in class to the conversations he has with his friends. But Viktor is different, because he has a secret: his developmentally disabled sister, Alina, who he visits in a state institution. As he learns just how far the Third Reich will go in the name of "genetic purity," he must choose where he stands, no matter what it costs. Win-E-Mac competed at the sub-section contest on Friday, January 24th, at Win-E-Mac. Unfortunately, Win-E-Mac did not move on to the Section contest, but the cast and crew performed really well and should be very proud.
