10th Annual Ode to Spring, April 18

WELCA is excited to celebrate the tenth annual Ode to Spring event on Saturday April 18 at 10:30 AM with a brunch served by “Men of Faith”.
The beautifully made quilts and prayer shawls will be displayed on the pews in the sanctuary and available for purchase.
Our guest speak will be Joyce Rairdon, a Master Gardener, with her talk “Spillers, Thrillers, and Fillers”
Joyce Rairdon, a University of MN Extension Master Gardener in Beltrami County, grew up in the Lengby area on her family farm. Her first job was at Stinar’s Shady Oak Nursery, while still in high school.
After marrying and raising a family, her love of gardening was renewed. She and her husband Peter live near Cass Lake, and raise many varieties of vegetables, to preserve and give to others. Joyce’s favorite things to grow are winter squash and peppers. They also have several types of fruit bearing shrubs, vines, and trees. A recent addition was a pollinator garden, a continuing Master Gardener project.
Joyce recently retired after almost 27 years with the USDA Forest Service. She plans to have less weeds in her garden and try her hand at raising more flowers from seed and seed saving with her extra time.
