McIntosh Library is celebrating summer with the annual Summer Reading Program for youth ages 0-18. This free program will encourage youth to “Read for the Win” during the summer months, by inviting them to track their reading progress to earn prizes and to attend free events at the library.
Help your child enhance or retain their reading skills this summer by participating in the Summer Reading Program.
Visit the library to sign up, pick up a reading log and get a preview of the fun events that will be held this summer.
The Summer will start on Wednesday, June 15th at 11:00 am, with “Leapfrog for the Win!” with Itasca State Park. Come jump, leap, and frog around with a park naturalist from Itasca State Park. Explore the amazing amphibian, the frog. Learn how reading and learning about this critter can help us score a win for these animals.
On Monday, June 20th at 10:30 am, The Agassiz Environmental Learning Center will join young and old alike to discover what it means to speak for the trees. Kids will become part of the story, The Lorax and after the story, there will be an opportunity to create a “seed bomb” to plant at home.
Next will be Weird Chemistry with Don Carey on Wednesday, June 29th at 10:30 am.
Don is a professor from North Dakota State University and he will be at the library to demonstrate the different stages of matter, using dry ice and liquid nitrogen! He will make floating bubbles, freeze marshmallows to -340 degrees below zero (the feed them to kids) and even blow some stuff up. Everybody wins with Don!
Monday, July 11th at 10:30 am, Philip and Susan Lee will bring some foot tapping, hand clapping music to the library, and everyone can sing along!
Schow Brothers Motorsports will visit the library on Monday, July 18th at 10:30 am. The Schow brothers are racing champions and they will be here to tell everyone what it is really like to race for the win!
Join in the fun this summer and get to the library to “Read for the Win!” Library hours are Monday, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, Tuesday and Thursday, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Wednesday and Friday, Noon to 5:00 pm.
