Shelby will be teaching high school math for the 2017-2018 school year. Shelby lives in Bemidji, MN. Her family includes her parents, Brett and Darlene Dukek, and her sister, Emily Dukek.
Shelby enjoys ‘DIYing’ pinterest projects, decorating, spending time with family and friends, and any outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, and kayaking.
Shelby received a Bachelor’s of Science degree at Bemidji State University in Secondary Mathematics Education.
She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education, specializing in integrating technology into the classroom (K-12). Shelby has previously taught at Bagley High School (2015-2017). Shelby said that she wanted to become a teacher because she had a great 8th grade math teacher. Between 8th grade and graduation she changed her mind several times before deciding in her freshman year that the teaching track was for her. Shelby’s goals for the year include getting to know her students and the people in the school. She hopes to try her very best to get people to love, or at least like, math a bit more. Shelby also said that she hopes to bring fun, new energy to the school, integrate technology into the classroom whenever possible, and to integrate new math concepts as well.
