Chelsey Ehlers, Fourth Grade Teacher
Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.
~Anthony J. D'Angelo
Chelsey Ehlers is in her fourth year of teaching at Clearbrook-Gonvick. She is married to Paul Ehlers and together they have two children: Aiden (6), Zoey (3), and baby due in December.
Chelsey grew up in Clearbrook and graduated from Clearbrook-Gonvick High School. After high school she attended St. Cloud State University where she received her K-8 teaching license. Upon graduation, she spent the next four years living and teaching in Belgrade, Montana, and Carson City, Nevada. She and her husband then had the opportunity to move back to Minnesota. Chelsey began teaching at the middle school in Red Lake for the next two years before starting her job at Clearbrook-Gonvick in the fall of 2015.
Why did you choose to be a teacher? I knew that I wanted to help families and kids in some way. After some reflection, I decided that I wanted to become a teacher because of the amazing teachers that I had growing up in the Clearbrook-Gonvick School.
What did you do before coming to Clearbrook-Gonvick? I taught in Belgrade, MT; Carson City, NV; and Red Lake, MN.
What is the best part of your job at Clearbrook-Gonvick? I love working where my kids are! Aiden started kindergarten this year and Zoey started pre-K, it is great being able to experience their education along with them. We also have such amazing students and families in our school district. It makes each year a fun and enjoyable experience!
What is the biggest challenge of your job? The biggest challenge of my job is staying up to date on all of the newest strategies and requirements within the educational system.
If you could have any job in the world - what would it be? Why? Other than being a mom, being a teacher really is what I want to be doing.
What do you do when you are not working at the school? I spend time with my family. We love being outside playing with our animals, riding 4-wheelers or snowmobiles, or whatever the kids dream up.
What is something you really enjoy about the fall season? I love the fall colors and playing in the leaves with my kids.
What are your favorite aspects of the Clearbrook-Gonvick community? I really enjoy knowing the families of the students in my class. I also love how the community pulls together when someone is in need or to celebrate a success or event.
