Leon Ramblers proposal to City Council

Amy and Peyton Berg representing the Leon Ramblers 4-H Club presented a proposal to the Gonvick City Council at their October meeting. The group has made benches and picnic tables for the City of Clearbrook and they are willing to put in the work to make benches and picnic tables for the City of Gonvick as a service project. Money for materials for the project would come out of the Beautification Fund that the city has. They thought that some benches to be put around the city would be nice. They also have a need for a picnic table at the Gonvick Park.
There was discussion on cleaning up the junk pile at the show from the city clean up week. City Clerk Stacy Halvorson informed the council that it would cost $425 per week to rent a dump trailer from Acme Rents in Bemidji. Mayor Candace Coulter checked with Sentence to Serve in the county and they came and took a partial load to the landfill.
A resolution accepting council member Dan Johnson's resignation as he has been hired as the city Maintenance person. The vacancy and appointing of a new council member with Shane Olson being selected to fill the position of council member. The council also approved the appointment of Jason Bakke as the maintenance relief person to perform the water and wastewater checks for Dan Johnson when he is on vacation or unable to check on the weekends.
No Fire Department issues were brought before the council and the Clearbrook-Gonvick Police Department was not present at the meeting.
The council passed the proposed 2020 budget for a 5% increase in the levy. Final Budget will be set at the December meeting.
