One of the newest teachers at the Clearbrook Gonvick School is Stacey Klinkhammer. She is teaching math for students in 8th and 10th grade and Algebra II to 10th graders. She was given a Teacher Questionnaire and she sent this in for readers in the Leader-Record area to get to know her.
•Education: High School graduate of Mahnomen High School, Bachelor’s Degree from NDSU in Mathematics Education, Master’s Degree from MSUM-Moorhead in Literacy.
•Personal Interests: Being on the water, hanging out with family & friends.
•Previous Teaching Experience: I taught for 4 years at Park Rapids Area High School in Park Rapids, and then taught for 5 years at Fargo South High School in Fargo, ND before coming to Clearbrook-Gonvick.
•Place of Residence: Lengby
•What made you decide to become a teacher? I have wanted to be a teacher from the first day I set foot in my Kindergarten classroom. It seemed like the coolest thing to do, and all of my teachers were so wonderful, it made me want to be one.
•What are your goals for this school year? Get to know all my students and their families; get to know the staff at the school; this year (and every year) my goal is to help students gain skills in math, as well as reading. I want to help them find, and learn how to use strategies that will be with them their whole lives.
•What do you hope to bring to Clearbrook-Gonvick and your students? I hope to show my students the real-world applications of math, so they understand why we stress the importance of math in school. I am very passionate about teaching; I hope that my enthusiasm for math shines through and shows the students math is nothing to be scared of. I want to ensure that students are prepared for their future when they walk out these doors as a graduate of Clearbrook-Gonvick, whether they are going to college or heading into the workforce. We want all of our graduates to become successful adults.
