Jordan Oien receives white coat in ceremony

Jordan Oien received his white coat on October 28 at Northwestern Health Science University in Bloomington MN.  He is studying chiropractic. Jordan is a 2009 graduate of Clearbrook Gonvick and a 2014 graduate of Bemidji State University.
The White Coat Ceremony is a ritual in medical, chiropractic, dental, pharmacy, veterinary, physical therapy, podiatric, and optometry schools that marks the student's transition from the study of preclinical to clinical health sciences. Many patients view the white coat as a "cloak of compassion" and a symbol of the caring and hope they expect to receive from their doctors. Conversely, students beginning their studies in the health sciences aspire to be worthy of the white coat in their education and role as future doctors. The white coat ceremony welcomes those embarking on the clinical phase of their training to the community of doctors by giving them this powerful symbol of compassion, professionalism, and honor.
