Hanson appointed to serve remaining term as Clearwater County Attorney

The Clearwater County Board of Commissioners appointed David Hanson, previously Assistant Attorney, as the County Attorney to serve the remaining term of office, effective March 14, 2017 at their March 14 Board meeting.
David Hanson has been quietly serving as the Assistant County Attorney to the recently retired attorney since September of 2016. He had also served as the Assistant Attorney in Clearwater County from 2007 – 2009.
“I am very excited about this – it is a wonderful opportunity,” said newly appointed Attorney Hanson.
He received his undergraduate degree at Bemidji State University, then proceded to obtain his law degree at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. He has gained experience in prosecution and juvenile areas during his approximately 10 years in the law field.
“I worked for my dad for a time for his company, Hanson's Electric. I have an inquisitive mind, and I wanted to do something on my own,” he said, “which is why I pursued a law degree.
“It is very easy to get to know people here in Clearwater County. I have enjoyed my time here, and it is nice to be close to home,” he said.
David Hanson is from the Solway area, son of Steve and Bunny Hanson, who grew up in Bagley.  Attorney Hanson now lives in Bemidji, and is married with three children.
He said he plans to run for the office of County Attorney when elections occur in 2018.
