Enbridge presented checks to area fire departments for upgrades to their units. Representatives were in the area with the checks and they presented them to city council and fire department representatives.
Enbridge has a policy of community investment. With the checks to the Gonvick and Clearbrook fire departments last Wednesday they are promoting safety for the communities. Clearbrook received a check for $7,500 which they will be using to up grade their radio system for the department. Gonvick received a check for $2,000 to purchase foam retardant material which they will be using to help put out fires.
Enbridge works with communities along the hundreds of miles that the pipelines have rights-of-way with assistance in safety, community and environment. In 2002 Enbridge started a program called Safe Community which awards grants for safety equipment, professional training or safety education programs to fire departments, emergency medical and rescue services to help to keep communities safe. Communities like Clearbrook, Gonvick, Plummer and Oklee have a small tax base and this helps to purchase needed equipment for their units.
Two Enbridge representatives Laura Kircher, Community Engagement Advisor and Jennifer Maleitzke, Public Affairs not only presented checks to Gonvick and Clearbrook but they made stops at Oklee and Plummer Fire Departments.
