New equipment has been installed at Clearwater Coating in Gonvick with assistance from the City of Gonvick Revolving loan fund. The Ruckreigle’s purchased a big oven that can take a car frame among other things. Robin and Paul recently finished a 1967 GTO frame for Brad Nelson of Oklee that they would not have been able to get into their oven before.
RAPID® Batch Ovens that they purchased can be used for preheating, drying, and curing. Preheat ovens prepare various metals, plastics, wood, medium density fiberboard or other substrates for the coating or adhesive process.
The oven that they purchased came from Eau Claire, Wisconsin and they spent many hours putting it together.
The oven can go over 400 degrees to put the finish coating on the project that they are working on. The oven puts out a terrific amount of heat and they are looking at ways to capture some of the heat to keep inside, especially in the winter.
Powder coating uses a dry powder that does not need a solvent in the process. Before they can powder coat an item there is a lot of sandblasting and prep work that has to be done. The coating of a dry color needs heat to create a hard finish used mainly for metals, household appliances, automobile parts, bicycle parts and lawn furniture. The three steps are paint preparation, powder application and curing. They have a large selection of dry paint colors that can be used in any application.
They do batch work for Team Industries and other companies in northern Minnesota.
The Ruckreigle’s purchased the old Napa building that once housed the theater in Gonvick. They have done a lot of work to change the walls around to accommodate all of their different equipment.
