Blood drive in Clearbrook

The blood drive held in Clearbrook on April 14th was successful. According to Katie Bartelson, Donor Recruitment Representative at United Blood Services, "Clearbrook had a good turnout. Out of 48 people who volunteered to donate, 40 were able to give. Six people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 46 products were collected. There were two people who volunteered for their first time!" Nancy Goudge coordinated the drive. Space to hold the drive was provided at the Old High School.

School drive

A total of 38 people volunteered to donate blood, and 27 were able to give during Clearbrook-Gonvick High School’s April 13th blood drive. Five people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 32 products were collected. Every community and everyone within each community has a stake in an adequate blood supply. Blood will be available only because of blood drive sponsors, coordinators, and volunteer donors. There were 18 people who volunteered for their first time!

John Lavin coordinated the drive and the Student Council sponsored and assisted with recruiting donors, publicity, providing refreshments, and registering donors. Others who assisted the day of the drive were: Katherine Knutson, Brynn Hetland and Taylor Volker.

Space to hold the drive was provided at Clearbrook-Gonvick High School.

Donations will help meet the blood needs of many patients in 108 regional hospitals served by United Blood Services. Blood is for sharing; you have truly given the "Gift of Life."

The availability of blood is dependent on the success of blood drive held in many communities. The citizens of the Clearbrook area can be assured that their community is a good example of a well-run blood program.

On behalf of the patients who benefited, United Blood Services appreciates all the thoughtful people who volunteered to help others by giving of themselves.

Blood is for sharing; you have truly given the "Gift of Life".
