4-H recognition awards given

Clearwater County 4-H recently held their annual recognition event. At this event we recognized everyone who contributed their time to 4-H during the past year. We specifically gave out awards, such as the “Energizer Bunny” Award, to the top adult volunteer who has been involved in many aspects of the Clearwater County 4-H program.
This year, the Energizer Bunny Award went to Sandy Girtz.  Clearwater County 4-H Volunteer of the Year Award went to Crissy Otting.  Crissy went above and beyond the expectations of a volunteer for the 4-H youth in Clearwater County. After the recognition event we held our annual Leaders Council meeting. The Leaders Council Board, which is run by youth, is designed to give the leaders of tomorrow an opportunity to learn how to run a business meeting with the guidance of adults.
November is the start of a new 4-H year, and new officers were elected to the Leader’s Council board. Those leaders are as follows: President - Kaleb Tronnes, Vice President - Carly Lewis, Secretary - Kirah Otting, Treasurer - Brianna Tronnes, and Reporter - Tessa Tramm .
We also elected members to be on the 4-H Food Stand committee, consisting of 3 adults and 3 youth. Food Stand Committee members include (Youth) - Obadiah Hammer, Maccabee Hammer and Hannah Johnshoy and (Adult) - Shelly Johnshoy, Marie Powell and Marceen Hammer.
Finally, the financial team members for 2017 include adults Daniel Johnshoy, Sandy Girtz and Stephanie Tronnes and the youth member is Nathan Johnshoy and Brianna Tronnes (youth Tr.
We are excited to begin a new 4-H year and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead.  If you, or someone you know, is interested in learning more about 4-H, visit http://www.extension.umn.edu/youth/mn4-h or call the Clearwater County Extension Office at 218-694-6151.
