The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day which is the largest rural safety and health education program for children in North America, was held on Tuesday, May 10th at the Bagley Hockey Arena. Six grade students along with their teachers from Bagley, Clearbrook/Gonvick, and Fosston schools took part in this event. Progressive Agriculture Safety Days are designed to be age-appropriate, hands-on learning, fun, and a safe way to teach students about rural safety.
During the day students learned about Hazardous Chemicals, Food Safety, Animal Safety, ATV Safety, Fire Prevention, Tractor/Grain Bin Safety, AED Training, Seat Belt Safety and the dangers of Distracted Driving. Each session provided education, training and resources for youth to make healthier and safer choices on a farm, ranch or in their own communities. These sessions were taught by local businesses that generously took time to teach our local youth in the community about how important it is to be safe.
