“Chalk It Up”

“CHALK IT UP!”, the Pumpkin Day chalk art contest featured 32 artists competing for cash prizes in 3 age groups during Gonvick Pumpkin and Car Show Day activities.  This year’s contest was held on the old Vandy’s concrete slab, downtown Gonvick.  So many creative displays, it was difficult for the judges to make any decisions!   A few extra cash prizes were added to the Age 5 – 8 category because of the high number of contestants.

Ages 5 – 8

Honorable mention, $5 cash prize:  Brody Fradenburgh

3rd place tie, $5 cash prizes:  Elizabeth Forsberg and Kennedi Kalinowski

2nd place, $10 cash:  Preston Seyller

1st  place, $20 cash:  Ambjør Snyder

Ages 9 – 12

3rd place, $5 cash prize:  Emma Crist

2nd place, $10 cash:  Gabby Anderson

1st place, $20 cash:  Tallon Vorderbruggen

Ages 13-17

3rd place, $5 cash prize:  Naomi Shamp

2nd place, $10 cash:  Kiara Gordon

1st place, $20 cash:  Rachel Forsberg

Many thanks to Cindy Melby for providing the cash prizes.  Thanks to Eileen Vanderport for use of the Vandy’s slab and to the Gonvick Volunteer firefighters for cleaning the concrete.

The next Pumpkin Day chalk art contest “CHALK IT UP 2017” will feature more age categories.  We had a lot of 4 year old artists that wanted to be included.  We will also plan to adjust the age categories.  If you have any suggestions or comments, please call Jaci 487-5218, we welcome your remarks.
