Gonvick City council transfers money for wastewater fund
The Gonvick City Council at their regular meeting on Wednesday, November 7 passed a resolution transferring annually from water-sewer checking account to Wastewater Improvement Fund a total of $22,000. Money from that account will be paid on January 1, 2016 in the amount of $12,816.00 for the annual payment of principal and interest on the Wastewater Improvement that was done this past summer. The funds are what the USDA Rural Development requires for reserves for the project.
The council decided to put up for sale the 1994 Ford Dump Truck.
Gonvick Police Chief Dan Gazelka gave his report. He had eleven traffic stops on North Ave coming into town from the east. There are several children on that street and the radar screen has been put there to inform motorists of their speed.
The brush pile collected from area residents was burned and it was suggested by the council that they should have waited until snow was on the ground. There was a very large amount of debris from the storm last summer. A new location next time for the large amount of branches would be put on city property south of Highway 92 instead of near the Waste Water Treatment facility.
The council passed a resolution 15-09 "Obligor Resolution". The resolution was directed by the Lender, Volvo for the financing of the lease for the loader for the city.
Dan Johnson with the Gonvick Fire Department has submitted their part in the grant for public safety radio systems. A grant writer out of Bemidji is working with police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians to obtain 800 megahertz radio systems for Clearwater and Beltrami Counties.
The old laundromat building was discussed with Police Chief Dan Gazelka. He stated that he has been talking with County Attorney Rick Mollin on the situation. The city is doing everything possible to take the proper steps to force the owner into action but limited because this is private property and the city does not have the authority to enter the property nor have the funds to file a civil action suit.
Expenditures were approved with General $17,202.87; Water and Sewer $4,128.09, Fire $14,418.26 for a total of $35,749.22.
