Council set April 20 to 26 as Spring Cleanup Week

Gonvick City Council at their regular meeting on Wednesday, April 8 set April 20 to 26 as Spring Cleanup Week. Have your items by the curb for pick-up. A reminder that the following items will not be picked up: paint, chemicals, hazardous waste, pesticides, yard waste, tires, computer monitors, fluorescent bulbs and TVs.
 
Items they will pick up are various metals such as: bikes, trikes, swing-sets, mattresses and box springs, carpet, appliances, furniture.
The brush dump behind the sewer plant will be open to accept yard waste only. If you have a questions on what can be placed call the City Clerk at 487-5243.
 
The Council passed the Resolution accepting the bid on the fire hall addition for $118,709.00 to RPM Construction. The company is owned by Josh Gerlofs and the city has obtained the performance bond and proof of liability/workers comp insurance that was stipulated in the specifications that were advertised from the company. Work will begin in two or three weeks for the 40 x 60 addition to the Gonvick Fire Hall. Money for the project is from the John and Faye Hedin Foundation. 
 
The city renewed the Gonvick American Legion liquor license for $200.00
 
The council approved Alison Johnson to do the mowing at the Community Center. Dan Johnson council member abstained.
 
The tables that are being stored at the Gonvick Shed are being donated to the Clear Waters Life Center (CWLC) in Gonvick. City Maintenance Joe Amundson will check over and bring them to the center. The city uses the new tables that are in the Gonvick Community Center and they will stay there and will not be loaned out to people. The city uses CWLC for Santa Claus Day and for Rodeo Days flea market. These tables would not have to be moved back and forth for those events.
 
Bills were paid for General $34,436.20, Water and Sewer $4,286.00, Fire $3,952.46 for a total of $42,674.96.
Police Chief Dan Gazelka gave the city the March 2015 police department incident report. Animal 1; Harassment 2; Public Assist/Misc. 1; Suspicious activity 2; Traffic stop 7; Arrests 0; Citations 0 for a total of 13.
