Robotics club receives money from drama dept.

The Grygla/Gatzke School Board approved their official February Minutes at the March 19th meeting. They are included below for your reference. Chairperson of the board Nicolette Leach called the meeting to order on February 18th with Gary Polansky, Shaunna Olson, Karina Tinnes, Charisa Limesand, Jim Verbout, Principal Lunsetter and Superintendent Clow present. The Pledge of Allegiance was said and the agenda and previous month’s minutes were approved.

Student Report: Given by Courtney Olson. There was an award day Friday 2/6/15 with games and movies for students with all work completed. A pizza party was held Friday, 2/13/15, for students with second quarter perfect attendance. There was an October 2014 Student Council Summit in EGF (all student council members were eligible to attend).  Student Council members are presently involved in a fundraiser gathering items for shelters and churches in need; Alison Satre will be running for representative to the NW Student Council Division. The State Student Council Summit will take place in Becker from April 11-13, 2015, and eight or nine Grygla student council members will be attending. Spring Fling is tentatively set for March 16-20, 2015; if boys basketball is playing at the state tournament at that time Spring Fling will be rescheduled to March  23-27, 2015. The senior class is selling candy after school for the senior class trip which is scheduled for May 9, 2015. The juniors are planning prom for the 25th of April, 2015. The JV robotics team qualified for the world tournament; the V team qualified for nationals. Girls basketball will have parents’ night on Monday, 2/23, in Goodridge against the Northern Freeze. Boys basketball will possibly play Fisher/Climax in a tournament play-in game in Grygla on 2/24/15.   
 
Teacher Report: Given by Abby Sundberg and Brady Olson. Elementary intramural basketball season is half done, and it’s going well with this being the first year the boys and girls are mixed; seniors are helping coach the four teams. There are 12 girls and 16 boys playing elementary basketball every other Saturday. Elementary Basketball Night is set for Thursday, 3/26/15, starting at 6:30 pm. This is the final year of the PEP grant for equipment purchases. Robotics is raising money for the trip to the world robotics tournament in Kentucky; $400 was raised with the taco-in-a-bag dinner, and there are currently raffle tickets for sale on a quilt. February 9, 2015, was the 100th day of school with elementary classes celebrating with a variety of activities.         
 
Principal Report: Given by Principal Lunsetter. Moving money from the drama fund to the robotics account was discussed. Options for the 2015-16 school calendar were given to teachers from the calendar committee; a GEA vote was held, and there will be a recommendation from Principal Lunsetter for approval of a calendar option at the March board meeting. An advertisement for the Grygla School was run two weeks ago in the Grygla and Roseau newspapers. In the athletic update, the RLCC game was moved up to be played prior to the seeding meeting, boys basketball got 8th seed and will play 2/24/15 against Fisher/Climax, girls basketball is now 8th seed and will probably play KCC in Goodridge on 3/5/15, next year we will look at double headers vs. split locations on the same nights. A program, called PD 360, was purchased for teacher development and evaluation, and it links the evaluation to online videos addressing possible weak areas. With another bus breaking down, the dire need and purchase of a 34-passenger bus was discussed. The sixth grade trip and senior trip were discussed. There may be changes to the absence and truancy policies for the 2015-16 school year. A special thank you to all of our paraprofessionals and the great job they do with our students.         
 
Superintendent Report: Given by Superintendent Clow.The bus log was reviewed. The 34-passenger bus purchase was discussed. The following items have been sold on bid: amplifier, fish house, and Smith machine. The following items on bid were approved for sale at: amplifier $15, fish house $40, Smith machine $25.
 
The purchase of a 34-passenger school bus from Hoglund Bus Company was approved. 
 
$3500 from the drama fund balance was moved to the robotics account. The money will go towards the VEX Robotics World Championship trip that the Grygla team will be attending on April 15-18, 2015, in Louisville, Kentucky. 
 
Trustee Report: Nicolette attended an organizational meeting at the NWRIC. Discussed at the ECFE board meeting were the annual basketball night fundraiser and what has happened through the year so far. Mtg. adjourned at 8:54pm.
