Calendar Winner for the Clearwater County Fair Calendar Raffle 5-11-Andy Anderson, Bagley won $100.
May 11 – Chris Tungseth, from Fergus Falls, MN competed on the “American Idol” and was one of five that competed for the title that May 4. A local connection to the story is that Esther Franklin, a resident of that town was the one who entered him in the contest. Esther is the daughter of Pete and Kathleen Kjolhaug of Gonvick. Another local connection is that his grandfather Norman Tungseth was a pastor at the Elim Lutheran Church in Clearbrook. It is indeed a small world. Three of them went on and will compete on May 11. They include Hannah Harper, Keyla Richards and Jordan McCullought. Chris was not one of the winners along with Braden Rumfelt.
Rosie at Faith Lutheran
Northern Exposure to Lifelong Learning (NELL) welcomes speaker Emily Thabes. In honor of the USA’s 250 anniversary, this program pay respects to those women who continued to keep America a free and safe country.
Rosies: “The Riveting History of the Women Who Sustained a Nation… and Helped Win World War II”
The program will be held at Faith Lutheran Church (32 Bagley NW, Bagley MN) on Wednesday May 13, at 9:30-11:00 w/ questions. NO charge to attend. Morning refreshments will be served. (Freewill)
May 14 - The Granlund Lodge #240 of the Sons of Norway will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 pm, Thursday, May 14, at the Embassy Community Center in Fosston. After the meeting, hotdogs and ice cream will be served in honor of Norwegian Independence Day, Syttende Mai, which is May 17th! The program features Tim Johnson who will share and show his collection of historic local artifacts and include stories of settlers from NE Columbia Township. As always, the meeting, lunch and program are all open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend. For questions, contact Wes or Susie Roland at 218-435-1230.
Come Join the Parade
Vintage cars, tractors, floats, walkers, other creative entries (and even politicians) are welcome to join the parade in Gully on the 4th of July. The parade will begin at 10:30 am, with registration and lining up starting at 9:00. Prizes will be given.
Non-participants are invited to just come and watch!
Gully and Trail are jointly planning this 4th of July celebration due to it being our country’s 250 years of independence. Following the parade the celebration will resume in Trail.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is waiving vehicle permit fees at all 73 state parks and recreation areas. This Free Park Day is one of four days each year on which visitors don’t need a vehicle permit at state parks and recreation areas. The DNR offers one-free day in each season, giving Minnesotans an opportunity to experience the parks at different times of year.
Free days for Minnesota state parks and recreation areas in 2026 are:

Congratulations to two Clearbrook-Gonvick Trap team members. On May 2 Trey Goudge and Blayton Benson shot a perfect 25 of 25.
County 1 road that is 4 miles east of Winger will be closed to traffic starting on Monday, May 11. The closure will be approximately one week to replace a culvert.
The Clearwater County 4-H food stand is looking for a food stand manager to ensure the success of their biggest fundraiser. Your help in spreading the word is greatly appreciated. Contact Kara Waldvogel at 218-694-6151 if you are interested.
Steve Fjerstad won the Highway 2 Cruisers of the Month Car. He has a 2010 Dodge Challenger RT that he bought six years ago from a person in Bismark, ND.
The Bemidji Police Department responded to a call reporting an attempted robbery near Algoma Park on Tuesday at 12:50 p.m. Four male suspects attempted to rob a juvenile male and threatened to assault him if he did not hand over his scooter and bag. Police were able to apprehend all four suspects with the information from an off-duty Bemidji Police Officer who witnessed the incident. Officers arrested Nathaniel Williams, age 18, and Landon Lovejoy, age 20, of Bemidji along with a 14 and 15-year-old in connection with this incident.
The Bemidji Rotary and Bemidji Chamber of Commerce are excited to announce that the Lake Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival presented by Paul Bunyan Communications will celebrate its 20th anniversary July 30 through August 1. Early Bird Team Registration is now open, and teams can save $100 off the registration fee if they sign up by June 1st.
POW Gary Guggenberger will be the Memorial Day speaker in Lengby on Monday, May 25. He was a prisoner of war in South Vietnam and Cambodia for 1,491 days until he was released February 12, 1973.
MnDOT’s “Name A Snowplow” contest has come to a close, and the specially-named plow for MnDOT’s District 2, headquartered in Bemidji, will of course be Plow Bunyan. The seven other winners are “Plowy McPlowFace,” “Ope, Just Gonna Plow Right Past Ya,” “Duck Duck Orange Truck” “Snowbi Wan Kenobi” “F. Salt Fitzgerald,” “Darth Blader,” and “The Truck Formerly Known As Plow.” Over 122,000 votes were cast for the top eight snowplow names, with “Plowy McPlowFace” a clear winner at over 65,000 votes.
The Fosston Farmers Market will be starting May 23. That is located next to the East Polk Heritage Center on Highway 2 on the east side of Fosston. That will be every Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00.
Twin Pines Golf Course in Bagley opened for the 2026 season on Tuesday, April 21 at 10:00. a.m. Early season clubhouse hours will be from 10:00 am to 6:00 p.m. with possible closures due to inclement weather on certain dates.
