Bears did great
The Clearbrook-Gonvick football put up a great fight against Fosston on Saturday October 25 and will not be playing in the Fargo Dome this week. You had a great season. Everyone is proud of you.
Halloween
Shorty’s Place in Gully is having a Halloween Party on Friday October 31. Music and Costume contest. Free breakfast at Midnight.
The Trap in Gonvick is having a Halloween Party October 31 from 8 to 1. Serving appetizers, free juke box and prizes for winning costumes.
Clearbrook Municipal Liquor Store is planning a Halloween party for October 31 with Karaoke with Beth and Company. Costume contest with prizes.
Trail’s End Bar & Grill Halloween Costume party with $500 first prize. Music, food and drinks Friday, October 31at 9:00 p.m.
Halloween Kid prize give away with a basket drawing at Trail’s End Bar. All kids in costume can enter their name into a drawing to win a spook-tacular Halloween basket full of Goodies. Candy bags free for all kids. No tricks all treats.
Halloween Party
The Gonvick Lion’ Club and Gonvick Jubilee are planning a Kids Halloween Party on Friday, October 31. Doors open at 5:30 P.M at the Gonvick Old School gym on Elm Street. (Clear Waters Life Center gym). Come celebrate Halloween with a night of family fun, including games, prizes, crafts and costume judging. Free for kids.
Clearwater Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club

The Clearwater Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club Trail Blazers is hosting a Bean Bag tournament in the shop in Leonard starting at 2 PM. Entry is free for members, non-members…we would like you to join the club. Everyone who plays in the tournament receives a FREE T-shirt. They will have a light meal later that day. Double elimination tournament! Let’s see who can win this tournament. Nice prizes for 1st and 2nd place.
Veterans Day Program
Clearbrook-Gonvick School to Host Veterans
Day Program on November 11th
The Clearbrook-Gonvick School will honor our nation’s veterans with a special Veterans Day program on Tuesday, November 11, at 10:00 a.m. in the school gymnasium. The community is invited to attend and join in recognizing the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country.
The program will feature student performances, readings, and presentations to pay tribute to local veterans. In partnership with the Gonvick American Legion Post #304, the event provides a meaningful opportunity for students and community members alike to express gratitude to those who have defended our freedoms.
Following the ceremony, veterans are invited to stay for a complimentary lunch, hosted by the school. All guests are welcome to gather afterward for coffee and doughnuts in appreciation of the day’s honored guests.
The Clearbrook-Gonvick School extends heartfelt thanks to all veterans and hopes the community will join in celebrating and remembering their service on this important day.

Historical Society fall bake sale
The Clearwater County Historical Society will be having their fall bake sale and Used books and crafts by Sue and Roxane on Saturday, November 15. It will be at eh Bagley American Legion with the sale starting at 9:00 a.m. until 1?00. Coffee pot on all day with fresh caramel rolls.

Santa and Mrs. Claus in Gonvick
Santa Claus Day is coming to Gonvick Friday, December 5, 2025. They will have a breathtaking tree lighting on Main Street, followed by bonfires and s’mores, hot chocolate and soup, as well as horse drawn wagon rides with Christmas music. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be on hand to visit with the kids and hand out yummy treat bags. Dress for a Minnesota winter and join the fun.
Festival of Trees
There will be a Festival of Trees from December 2 to 21 at the Clearwater County Historical Society. Special Open House Sunday, December 14 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Other days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 4:00. Friday from 1:00 to 7:00 and Saturday 1:00 to 4:00. Organizations, businesses and families will be decorating trees this year.

Join the Bagley Public Library's Book Club for a discussion of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman is a story centered on Eleanor, a social misfit with a traumatic past, following her journey from isolation to connection with the people and the world around her. The Book Club's discussion is scheduled Friday, November 7 at 1 p.m. at the Bagley Public Library.
The Bagley Public Library is located at 79 Spencer Ave. and is open from 1-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursday, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturdays.

November 1 deadline for Santa Day craft show
November 1 is the deadline for registration for the Clearbrook Santa Day craft show. Be sure to check with the Clearbrook City Clerk.
Deadline to sign up for 2025 Festival of Trees is November 1
The Clearwater County Historical Society will be holding its 4th Annual “Festival of Trees” from December 2 through December 21 at the History Center in Shevlin.
If your organization, business or family would like to decorate a tree this year- please sign up by November 1. If you signed up last year, please call to be sure it was recorded. The Center has some trees available, or you can bring in your own tree. Decorating will take place during the last two weeks of November. Call the History Center at 218-785-2000 to reserve your tree.
Fundraising for music
The City of Clearbrook is currently fundraising to restore the music on Main Street in memory of Lloyd Engen. Lloyd Engen was a lifelong active resident of the Clearbrook community. He was an active member and volunteer in several local organizations in the community. Lloyd was one of the individuals instrumental in starting the music on Main Street. Lloyd was a founding member of the Clearbrook Community Club, a fireman and fire chief for several years for the Clearbrook Fire Department, an active member and Legion Commander for Clearbrook Legion Post #256, president of the Clearbrook-Leonard Senior Center, drove a medical minivan, volunteered at the food shelf and meals on wheel and instrumental in starting the Clearbrook Babe Ruth baseball program. Lloyd worked many years for the City of Clearbrook, mowing the grass all around Clearbrook. Lloyd was also selected as the Clearwater County Outstanding Citizen. One of Lloyd’s greatest accomplishments was being a father to 7 children and grandfather to 23 children. You could always find Lloyd supporting his grandchildren at local school events.
Lloyd was a man know by all and loved by many. Up to the week prior to his passing, he was talking about how much he would like to hear the music on Main Street again. This is why we are fundraising in Lloyd’s memory. Donations can be made at the Clearbrook City office or look for donation jars at businesses in Clearbrook.
If all the funds are raised for the music cost, we will continue to collect donations to replace the trees on Main Street.

Ole loves to go to auction sales. Last week he went to one and a parrot was being auctioned off. Ole wanted that bird so bad. He just kept bidding and bidding. And finally, he got the parrot. Ole hurried over to the auctioneer and excitedly asked. “Does dis bird talk?”
“Vell, ya, sure does. He’s been bidding against you for da last half hour!” replied, Swen, the auctioneer.
