April 20 – Clearbrook-Gonvick school board meeting at 7:00 p.m.

April 20 - Sand Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery Association of Trail is doing cemetery cleanup; if you would like to help, please join us on Sunday, April 26 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Suggested items to bring include gloves, water bottle, garden tools, wheelbarrow. If you have any questions, please call 218 268-4432.

April 21 – Clearbrook-Leonard Senior Citizens Center present April Musical Guests of John and Cindy Kingsbury at noon. Free to attend. Door prizes.

April 22 – Clearwater-Polk Electric 78th Annual meeting in the old Clearbrook School. Registration, entertainment and the meal will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the meeting to follow at 6:00 p.m.

April 25 – Clearbrook Fire Department Fish Fry Fund Raiser. Serving begins at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Eat in or take out.

April 25 - Historical Society presents Charlie Maguire “Songs from America’s Home Towns” Concert.  Charlie will be at the Clearwater Lutheran Church in Shevlin on Saturday April 25. The Church is offering a “Hometown Homemade Supper” that includes potato salad, beans and BBQs!  Serving is from 5:30- 6:30 and the concert will begin at 6:45. A free will donation is suggested for both events, which will support the Clearwater County Historical Society and the Clearwater Lutheran Church.

April 27 – Driver Discount Program for Driers 55 and over will be held at the Clearbrook Community Center from 1 to 5 pm. This is a 4-hour refresher course. Call 1-888-234-1294 to register for the class.

April 29 – Clearbrook-Gonvick Summer Recreation Activities Kick Off Carnival. 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the Clearbrook-Gonvick School Gym and Commons area. Taco in a bag, raffles, silent auctions, and games.

May 2 - The Gonvick Fire Department will be hosting a dinner on Saturday May 2nd, 2026 at the Fire Hall. Serving from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for those of you that can attend.  Come meet and talk with your local Volunteer Firefighters bring the family and leave the cooking to them.

May 2 to 10 – Clean-up week in Clearbrook. Letters were sent with last month’s bill to residents of Clearbrook.

May 8 -The Clearwater County Sheriff's Office will be hosting an ATV safety class on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Bagley High School. Registration begins at 4:30 PM and class starts at 5:00 PM. You can pre-register with Andy Anderson at andyanderson@clearbrook-gonvick.k12.mn.us.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is waiving vehicle permit fees at all 73 state parks and recreation areas. This Free Park Day is one of four days each year on which visitors don’t need a vehicle permit at state parks and recreation areas. The DNR offers one-free day in each season, giving Minnesotans an opportunity to experience the parks at different times of year.

Free days for Minnesota state parks and recreation areas in 2026 are:

  • Saturday, April 25
  • Saturday, June 13
  • Friday, Nov. 27

Congratulations to the Fosston High School Knowledge Bowl team who were state Champions this year. This was their second year in a row that they took the title. They are coached by Ron Berntson and Holly O’Shea.

 Red Lake Nation College is receiving a seven-million-dollar grant from MacKenzie Scott.  The college says this transformational gift will end the cycle of poverty at the tribal college.  It’s the largest gift in the history of the 25-year-old college.  Red Lake Nation College has campuses in downtown Minneapolis and in Red Lake, Minnesota.  The grant can be spent however college leaders choose.

 The Crookston School Board voted unanimously on Thursday to close Washington Elementary and consolidate resources to Highland Elementary. The board voted 6-0 in favor of the closure during a special meeting Thursday to address the school’s future. After the vote, a recess was called to deal with commotion caused by a protestor.
