Principal Tharaldson says Clearbrook-Gonvick students have registered for their classes next year. New students will have an opportunity to register in the fall at the back-to-school registration event. New Families with students who would be interested in attending Clearbrook-Gonvick next year are encouraged to contact the office to start the registration process this spring before summer break for planning purposes. Music at the Senior Center
Antonia Arce will be performing at noon on Sunday, May 28 at the Clearbrook-Leonard Community Center. He is a guitarist from Argentina who will provide his music free of charge. He lives in Bemidji.
Come Join the Parade
Vintage cars, tractors, floats, walkers, other creative entries (and even politicians) are welcome to join the parade in Gully on the 4th of July. The parade will begin at 10:30 am, with registration and lining up starting at 9:00. Prizes will be given.
Non-participants are invited to just come and watch!
Gully and Trail are jointly planning this 4th of July celebration due to it being our country’s 250 years of independence. Following the parade the celebration will resume in Trail.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is waiving vehicle permit fees at all 73 state parks and recreation areas. This Free Park Day is one of four days each year on which visitors don’t need a vehicle permit at state parks and recreation areas. The DNR offers one-free day in each season, giving Minnesotans an opportunity to experience the parks at different times of year.
Free days for Minnesota state parks and recreation areas in 2026 are:

Tidbits
Congratulations to the Clearbrook-Gonvick Junior High Softball team. They placed 2nd in the tournament in Red Lake Falls. They ended this season with a record of 8-1. Way to go!
The high school baseball completed the regular season as of 5/22/2026. Red Lake County is the NorthWest Diamond Conference Champion and Ada-Borup-West is the Pine-to-Prairie Conference Champion
Ryan Hanlon was elected to the Minnesota High School League to represent Regions 7A and 8A on the board of directors. He beat out four other candidates. He has been the Activities Director in Fosston for 16 years along with years of coaching.
St. Louis County Sheriff Gordon Ramsay says a plane was shot while fighting wildfires, and authorities have arrested a suspect. 48-year-old Daniel Christian Pettit is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, second degree assault, and felony criminal damage to property. Pettit is being held at the St. Louis County Jail.

Over 90 people attend the Wetterling program in Bagley
Jacob Wetterling's abductor was Danny James Heinrich. In September 2016, he confessed to the October 22, 1989 kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder of the 11-year-old in rural St. Joseph, Minnesota.
Key Details About the Abductor and the Case:
- The Crime: Heinrich, wearing a mask and holding a gun, stopped Jacob and two other boys while they were riding their bikes, ordered the other boys to run into the woods, and drove Jacob away.
- The Confession: Heinrich admitted to the crime in court as part of a plea deal. He later led authorities to Jacob's remains, which were discovered in a pasture in Paynesville, Minnesota, ending a nearly 27-year search
The Bemidji Rotary and Bemidji Chamber of Commerce are excited to announce that the Lake Bemidji Dragon Boat Festival presented by Paul Bunyan Communications will celebrate its 20th anniversary July 30 through August 1. Early Bird Team Registration is now open, and teams can save $100 off the registration fee if they sign up by June 1st.
The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office has released information regarding a shooting that took place south east of Bemidji. The Beltrami County Emergency Communications Center received a report of shooting on Little Norway Ave SE. Deputies and emergency personnel located an adult male who had been shot. The victim was provided medical care at Sanford Bemidji Medical and then transported to Sanford in Fargo. The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Ray Gene Jacob Tahahawah. The suspect vehicle was identified and later located by Red Lake Law Enforcement within the Red Lake Nation. The suspect was taken into custody and charges are pending through the Beltrami County Attorney’s Office. The name of the victim is being withheld and is reported to be in stable.
In Minnesota Feeding Our Future founder Aimee Bock has been sentenced to more than 41 years in prison for her integral role in a COVID-era scheme that saw more than $200 million in child nutrition funds fraudulently distributed.
