Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a reminder that donors are critical to supporting cancer patients
This October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Vitalant encourages both new and returning donors to give blood and platelets to help patients, including those undergoing cancer treatments.
Breast cancer affects one in eight women in their lifetime, and many patients rely on blood or platelet transfusions during treatment. About 25% of the blood supply is used to help all types of cancer patients.
