Robert (Bob) Joseph Widerski, 88, of rural Leonard, MN died Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Goldpine Home in Bemidji, MN.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at St John’s Catholic Church in Nebish, MN with Fr. Raul Perez-Cobo officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Bob was born October 4, 1926 in St Paul, MN, the son of Frank and Inez (Beck) Widerski. He married Betty Schultz in 1948, and the couple had 3 children. He married Helen (Mistic) Vorderbruggen in 1991. They spent their retirement years at their home on the North Shore of Clearwater Lake. Bob served in the Navy in WWII and the Korean conflict, Bob retired as Captain with the St Paul Fire Department in 1987. He loved fishing, hunting, skiing, roller skiing on the highway, and gardening. He taught AARP Safe Driving classes for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Bemidji, MN
3 children: Catherine Meissner of DeRidder, LA, Shirley (Craig) Christenson of Roseville, MN , Jim (Karen) Widerski of White Bear Lake, MN
6 step children: Stephen (Laurene) Vorderbruggen of Salem, WI, Eugene Vorderbruggen of Clearbrook, MN, Frank (Becky) Vorderbruggen of Perham, MN, Karl (Gina) Vorderbruggen of Nebish, MN, Rosemary (Eric) Gustafson of Nebish, MN, Anthony (Deb) Vorderbruggen of Avon, MN as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister MaryAnn (Bill) Novotny of St Paul, MN
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth, and former wife Betty.
