Last week, Tuesday the 19th, the Chargers basketball teams headed up to Warroad for a double header. Both the boy’s and girl’s varisty teams lost with the GBB score 48-60 and the BBB score 53-59.
Girl’s stats: Ashlyn Henrickson 3 pts, 3 rbs; Brooke Anderson 8 pts, 2 rbs; Brooke Limesand 2 pts; Hannah Dietsch 7 pts, 7 rbs; Madison Bakken 9 pts, 8 rbs; Mariah Coan 6 pts, 2 rbs; Shantel Verbout 13 pts, 7 rbs.
Coaches Comments: We came out sloppy in this game, and couldn’t seem to recover. We were missing Ashley Moe who came down with the flu before warmups, but I think that Ashlyn and Brooke did a good job stepping in for her. Warroad was a good team. They shot 47% and we shot 23 %. That is not like us, and I know we will do better next game. We shot better as a team from the free throw line. As a coach I could’ve made few different calls.
Boy’s stats: Dylan Walker 15 pts, 10 rbs; Austin Brateng 10 pts, 6 rbs; Tyler Stinar 10 pts, 14 rbs; Ty Jelle 9 pts, 6 rbs; Blaine Kriel 5 pts, 10 rbs; Ben Groven 4 pts, 1 rb; Benji Wilebski 5 rbs.
Coaches Comments: We played hard and didn’t give up. We had our chances to win the game. We hurt ourselves with poor shooting and turnovers. We need to knock down our shots and make our free throws. The effort was there and I’m proud of the kids for that.
