Katie Lorenson is scheduled to take over as president of Alerus Financial Corporation

As of January 1, 2022, Katie Lorenson, originally from Oklee, daughter of Bob & Pam O'Neill, and 1998 Oklee High School graduate, is scheduled to become the new president and chief executive officer.

Katie joined Alerus as chief financial officer in December 2017. Katie is a seasoned executive with extensive experience overseeing financial service organizations, most recently serving as CFO at MidWestOne Financial Group, Inc. 

Katie’s “once-in-a-career” opportunity came in 2018, a year after joining Alerus, when she began spearheading the lengthy process for Alerus’ filing of a registration for a proposed initial public offering and Alerus began trading on NASDAQ in mid-September 2019.

On September 22nd, Alerus Financial Corporation announced that its Board of Directors appointed Katie A. Lorenson, the Company’s current Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, as the Company’s next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2022. 

Ms. Lorenson will also join the Company’s Board of Directors upon assuming her new role. Randy L. Newman will transition to the role of Executive Chairman of the Board to ensure a seamless leadership transfer.

In Katie’s spare time, she dedicates her time to her husband and three boys, whose sporting events keep her busy throughout the year.
