Patricia “Pat” Woods, age 90, of Fosston, MN, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Monday, November 18, 2024, at McIntosh Senior Living. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22nd, at Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Fosston with the Rev. Mark Richardson officiating. Interment is at Hamilton Congregational Cemetery in Hamilton, MN. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com.
On February 11, 1934, Patricia “Pat” Ellen Streitz was born to Robert and Dorothy (Wright) Streitz in Minneapolis, MN. Patricia attended and graduated from Bloomington High School. She was a member of the “Lucky 7” girls’ group. Pat attended Winona State University in Winona, MN. While in her second year of college, she met a handsome, young sailor, William “Bill” Woods, fresh out of the Navy. On December 8, 1956, Pat was united in marriage to Bill Woods at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Bloomington, MN. They moved to Kalamazoo, MI, where Bill continued his college education. After Bill graduated from college, they moved to Fosston, MN, in 1960. Bill and Pat were blessed with four children: Greg, Nancy, Tom and Janice.
As the children grew up, Pat was involved in many of their activities. Pat and Bill put on many miles following the kids’ sporting events. Pat had a saving faith in Jesus Christ. She spent many years teaching fourth grade Friday School; teaching children about Jesus and His Word brought much joy to her.
Family and home were Pat’s top priority. She was a wonderful homemaker, filling the home with warmth and love. Fresh baked goodies often would be waiting for her children when returning home from school. Pat always had an open door for the neighborhood kids. Pat was not afraid of adventure and enjoyed the trips to Kentucky and California, tenting at KOA campgrounds along the way, making many family memories. She enjoyed doing Bible Studies at the Midway Nursing Home in Fosston. Pat always made family Holidays special. She enjoyed reading, especially the Minneapolis Tribune, every morning. Pat was always up on current events and enjoyed talking with others about them. She was very proud of her children and was a loving mother and grandmother.
Pat is survived by her husband of 68 years, Bill, McIntosh, MN; children: Greg Woods, Fosston, MN, Nancy (Anders) Macy, Fertile, MN, Tom Woods, Fosston, MN and Janice Woods, Fertile, MN; grandchildren: Nathanael (Ashley) Macy, Bismarck, ND, Benjamin (Jessie) Macy, Belgrade, MT, Michael (Alyssa) Macy, Fosston, Samuel Macy, Lake Mills, WI, and Joe (Madi) Woods, Fosston, MN; great-grandchildren: Sofia Macy, McClain Macy, Reece Macy, and Knox Macy; sister: Roberta Zylla, Minneapolis, MN; sister-in-law: Marion Streitz, Minneapolis, MN; and several nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Dorothy Streitz, brother: Richard Streitz; and brother-in-law: Curt Franzen.
