Services for Betty Lou Langseth

Betty Lou Langseth, 90, of Leonard, MN died on Friday, May 31, 2024, peacefully in her sleep.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Leonard, MN with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Michael Wright will be officiating the service, and the interment will follow at Sinclair Cemetery in Leonard, MN.
Betty was born on March 7, 1934, in Clearbrook, MN to Rudolph and Thelma Voxland. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Betty attended Clearbrook high school and at age 16 she took guardianship of her siblings after her parents passed from tuberculosis. Betty attended a dance in Gonvick and met Glen Langseth. They were united in marriage on April 4, 1953, in Clearbrook, MN. They later moved to Wolf Point, MT where their children, Ila Rae, Richie, and LeeAnn were born. Betty and Glen moved back and purchased the farm outside of Leonard that became the gathering place for the Langseth family.
Betty was the kind face at Granley’s grocery store for many years. She enjoyed visiting with her customers and creating many friendships. Betty also enjoyed cooking for others and was able to start B&S catering service and worked alongside her friend.
Betty was part of a bowling league for over 60 years. She was able to travel many places with her bowling teams, finally retiring from the league at age 87. Betty was passionate about her faith and was very involved in her church. She spent many years volunteering in the ladies aid and helping to create the famous meatball dinner. Betty hosted card games once a week and enjoyed solving the world's problems during their discussions. Through all her passions she was able to create lifelong friendships that she truly cherished. Betty loved having the family together, for many years she hosted Sunday suppers. All that visited her home made a stop at the candy jar by the door. Betty was a genuinely kind woman who encouraged kindness in others, and she will be missed dearly.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann (Rick) Viktora of Bagley; her daughter in law, Diane Langseth of Leonard; her sisters, Gloria (Bill) Lee of Anaheim, CA, Eilene Vanderport of Roseville, MN; Grandchildren, Ryan, Rayme, Rachel, Jenny, Jill, Julie, Janelle, Amanda and Adam; and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her son, Richie Langseth; her daughter, Ila Rae Lene; her brothers, Larry Voxland, Sonny Voxland, Ray Voxland and Bobby Olson.
