Services for Barbara “Bonnie” Jean Swanberg


Barbara “Bonnie” Jean Swanberg, 95, of Bagley, Minnesota, died on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Cornerstone Senior Living in Bagley, Minnesota.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, from 10 a.m. – noon at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley, Minnesota. Interment will be held at Bagley City Cemetery.
Bonnie was born on June 1, 1929, at Ironwood, Michigan. She was the daughter of Leonard and Saima (Johnson) Bloomquist. Bonnie went to Luther L. Wright School in Ironwood, Michigan, graduating in 1947. She furthered her education at Nurses Training School in Minneapolis and became an LPN. On June 3, 1950, Bonnie married Reverend Harvey Swanberg. Together they had two sons; Daniel and David and three daughters; Kirsten, Karen and Kathryn. Bonnie and Harvey ministered at many churches in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Montana, Nebraska and Alaska until his death in 2002. Bonnie loved being a minister’s wife. She served in many areas of the churches, such as Sunday School, Women’s Ministries and singing in the choirs. Bonnie loved music and sang all the time. She enjoyed reading and knitting and gardening. She planted roses wherever she was living. Bonnie was devoted to her family, especially her husband and children. She enjoyed being a homemaker and creating beauty wherever she lived.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter – Kirsten (Rick) Benson of Proctor, Minnesota; Son – Daniel (Joni) Swanberg of El Paso, Texas; Son – David (Janet) Swanberg of Kennewick, Washington; Daughter – Karen Edevold of Bagley, Minnesota; Daughter – Kathryn (Tim) Brost of Menomonie, Wisconsin; Sister – Janis Currell of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Brother – Jack (Luetta) Bloomquist of Syracuse, New York; Granddaughters – Kathryn, Denise, and Nadia; Grandsons – Bryan, Eric, Jonathan, David, Matthew and Alexander. Many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband – Harvey Swanberg; Brother – David Bloomquist; mother - Saima Bloomquist and father – Leonard Bloomquist.
