Services for Allen Edward Russell

Allen Edward Russell, age 78, passed away on June 13, 2022 at his home in Alamo, TX. Allen was born in Swan River, Manitoba, Canada and grew up as the son of a Baptist pastor. He graduated from Briarcrest Bible College, Caronport, Saskatchewan with a diploma in pastoral studies in 1964, earned his B.A degrees in Psychology and Anthropology from Bethel College, St. Paul, MN in 1968, and his M.Div. in Biblical Studies from Bethel Seminary in 1972, and he earned the PhD in Ministry of Leadership from Trinity Theological Seminary in 2014. He was ordained for the pastorate in St. Paul MN in 1974 and served as a missionary with the Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society in Hong Kong from 1974-1978. After returning from the mission field, he served as pastor of Arcadia Baptist Church, Arcadia, WI from 1979-1985; Bethany Baptist Church in Peoria, IL from 1985-1995; and Galilee Baptist Church in Chicago, IL from 1996-2000. He was a chaplain in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1982-2003, serving with several medical battalions, and retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He also served as the Director of Chaplaincy for the CBAmerica from 1993 to 2015.
Allen met his wife Carol in 1962 when they were both attending Briarcrest Bible College in Caronport, Saskatchewan. They were married in 1965. They had two children, and five grandchildren. Allen died just short of their 57th anniversary.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and D. Mildred (van de Water) Russell. He is survived by his wife M. Carol (Williams) Russell, son Daniel Russell (Heather) of State College PA, and daughter Joanne Lavin (John) of Clearbrook, MN; two brothers, Robert Russell (Joanne) of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Murray Russell (Liz) of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; and five grandchildren: Matthew Russell and Megan Russell, both of State College, PA, and Joshua Lavin, Jennifer Lavin, and Julie Lavin, all of Clearbrook, MN; along with two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, and more than a dozen nieces and nephews and their families.
A memorial service to celebrate Allen Russell’s life will be held on August 13, 2022 at 1:00pm at Country Faith Church. A memorial site has been setup at https://www.forevermissed.com/
