Services for Alice Bjerknes

Alice Bjerknes, 96, of Clearbrook, MN died on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center in Bemidji, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Samhold Lutheran Church in Gonvick with the Reverend Kris Snyder officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at the Samhold Lutheran Cemetery at Gonvick, MN in the spring.  The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.

Alice was born on June 20, 1920 at Gully, Minnesota the daughter of Magnus and Flossie Dahl.  She graduated from Gonvick High School in 1938.  Alice married Kenneth Bjerknes on June 21, 1947 at Gonvick, MN.  Alice and Kenneth owned and operated the Gonvick Mercantile for many years before selling the business in the early 1990’s.  Kenneth died in May of 2008 and Alice moved to the Good Samaritan Center Labor Day in 2008, at Clearbrook where she spent her last years.  Alice was a member of the Samhold Lutheran Church where she was very active in the Ladies Aid and taught Sunday school for many years.  She was also a member of the Gonvick American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son – Lyle Bjerknes of Gonvick, MN

Son – Mark (Doreen) Bjerknes of Grand Forks, ND

5 Grandchildren – Dan (Sommer) Bjerknes of Williston, ND

Rhonda (Justin Scholl) Bjerknes of Madison, WI

Darin (Ingrid) Bjerknes of Woodbury, MN

Brandon (Angela) Bjerknes of Bemidji, MN

Great Grandchildren – Logan, Berkley, Raider, Gus, Odin, Brinnly, Brady, Bryley, Capri and Beckham.

Brothers-in-law – Jim Bjerknes of Alexandria, MN

Bart Myrom of North Carolina

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother – Myron Dahl, brothers-in-law – Morris, Jerome, Bud and John; Sisters-in-law Muriel, Irene and JoAnn.
